It was definitely worth the 2000+ mile voyage to visit remote Alta in the Finnmark county of far north Norway. There was plenty of snow, plenty to explore, lots of ice sculptures and the amazing Northern Lights Cathedral. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful, so we had a warm welcome even if the outside temperature was well below freezing.
The journey, via the Lofoten archipelago was equally amazing. There were hundreds of islands, mountains covered in snow and ice rising straight out of the sea.
Would we go again? Oh yes!
Nice photos – especially on a hot summer day. Love the spire and the ice heart.
Thanks for sharing.
